The main reason I didn't like this book is because of the poor translation from French. I speak French and I could tell that the translation was poor despite the wonderful spiritual insights of Fr. Jean Nicolas Grou. I would prefer to read it in French. I would get much more out of it, as I think that Fr. Jean Nicolas Grou is a wonderful spiritual teacher. Also this is a very old edition and it is missing a few pages here and there, and some of the pages overlap. Amazon should not be selling this book. I returned it and got a refund. I would highly recommend "The Spiritual Life" by Fr. Grou which is a wonderful read.Product details

Written for those souls desirous of a closer union with God and who better to guide those on their journey than a bona fide Saint.
This book is a rarity appealing to a rareified audience so finding it at all was surprising in itself. The book is a beautifully prepared facsimile of an edition of the work prepared some 65 years after Pere Grou's death. It's a pleasure to use, handle and to read. I also like that it appears to be a facsimile of pages considerably smaller than this edition, which results in margins that provide ample space for notations.
the copy job on this is HORRIBLE. EVERY page to the right is missing two to three letters of the sentence, the entire book is missing the right hand margins AND WOODS.... This is an impossible book to read due to the shoddy copy job that does NOT show ANY words on the right hand side of the pages, ALL of them.
